We need a Napoleon’s corporal

When war was waged before the radio was invented, the leaders used all types of means to issue directions and orders to their troops and officers. Flags and bugles were two of the methods, and then messengers came into use. Military lore records that Napoleon used a corporal to repeat his message and explain its meaning. If the corporal understood, then he assumed his officers would also understand.

Perhaps our politicians could learn from this.

The bills coming out of Congress are like other papers written by lawyers. They are in legalese language and in too many cases even lawyers do not understand them. I recall when I was a general manager of a company and read a paper from a lawyer that went on for several pages without a period. In my view, this was by design.

The health-care bill is a great example.

The politicians are absolutely surprised and amazed a large percentage of the citizens have read and taken the time to understand what is in the bill. We hear one of the major reasons the citizens are against the bill is because the administration has not been able to explain it properly. It makes no difference how they try to explain this bill, the people realize that it is an attack on our freedom and they want no part of it.

While most people are fully riled about this bill, there are other things occurring under the radar screen. Have you noticed the background of the “czars” the president has selected to advise him? No wonder he has gone this route, because many of them would never be approved by the Senate.

The Diversity Advisor at the Federal Communication Commission, Mark Lloyd, who by his own words is not a believer in the First Amendment, wants to silence opposing views on the airwaves. He praises the leadership of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and what he has accomplished there. He plans to establish “review boards” at the FCC that will determine if a station should have its license renewed if it does not comply with certain rules.

What rules you may ask? They are yet to be determined, but the implication seems to be there must be a certain number owned by minorities and local concerns must be covered. Name a liberal radio host who has a significant national audience and the subtle plan to implement the “Fairness Doctrine” without calling it that seems to arise.

Then we have the Green Czar, Van Jones, who is an avowed communist and as recently as March 10 at the Power Shift Jobs 09 proclaimed that he is interested in changing the entire system in this country. At other times he has spoken about getting “radical ends” to programs. He has also been associated with the Apollo Alliance that had influence in writing the stimulus bill. I’m sure you remember that bill since it ended the recession and caused the economy to soar. The Apollo Alliance is an organization of labor, businessmen, environmentalists and civilian leaders who are interested in “clean energy” development. Jones was on its board and is involved in the “greening” of the workforce – whatever that means.

Then we have Jeff Jones, also involved with Apollo who was a cofounder of the radical group Weather Underground during the 1960s. The other cofounder was Bill Ayres, who held the first fundraiser for Barack Obama when he first entered politics in Chicago. Imagine knowing the two founders of this radical group that blew up government buildings in the 1960s.

John Holdren is the Science Czar and he has proposed sterilization. Then there is Cass Sunstein the Regulatory Czar who believes that animals should be allowed to bring suit in our courts. Last week I mentioned Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, who believes that medical support should be spent mostly on those between 14 and 50 years old.

Added to all this is Yosi Sargent from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), who held a conference call with 80 artistic participants to include the White House about how to create a system to assist the president in his agenda and to push him in the right direction.

All of this cannot be just a coincidence. Radicals from the animal rights and the environment groups joining forces with other groups to move the nation in a totally different direction than established by the Founding Fathers cannot be just coincidence.

Now the Department of Education has issued a lesson plan for teachers to use when the president speaks to all students next Tuesday. The teaching points sound more like indoctrination than anything else, and it has already been adjusted probably because of parents’ concerns.

The awakening of a sleeping giant I wrote about a few weeks ago continues. The giant is becoming stronger and more aware of what is being attempted. We are told the proposal for a takeover of the health care system by the government is off the table, but other parts of the bill have numerous controls by the government so that, in reality, the government will still dictate.

Write the bill so that Napoleon’s corporal will understand, and hidden items will be eliminated.
