Eddie Piper will perform Monday

Tomorrow at 7 p.m., singer Eddie Piper will present a program called “Song & Sermon” at First Baptist Church of Masaryktown. Piper has been coming here presenting his talents for more than 25 years. The church is located on Roosevelt Avenue, which is one block off U.S. 41 going west, and Kollar Street.

At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on U.S. 41 will hold a pork dinner at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 17. On the menu will be roast pork, parsley potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad, bread, dessert and beverage for only $7 per adult, $3 for children; and family plan of two adults, two children plates for $16. All proceeds will go to the Food Pantry. For more information, you can call 796-4066.

And after you’ve dined that day, you can attend the annual community meeting at 2 p.m. at the Masaryktown Community Hall on Lincoln Avenue. Voting of two council members will be on the agenda; the office of vice president and director. Both are three-year terms; try to attend – it is your community.

At St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows, located on U.S. 41 south of County Line Road, on Thursday, Jan. 21, they will have Lifeline screenings. Preregistration is required; call 1-800-324-1851 to schedule an appointment – no walk-ins.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on U.S. 41 south (same as above), the CCDs will have a spaghetti dinner after the 4 p.m. Mass. On the menu will be spaghetti, sauce, meatballs, sausage, salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverage, all for $7 each. Tickets can be purchased after all Masses or at the Parish Office during business hours.

New Year’s Day open house was a huge success at the home of Maria and Chuck Kardos. More than 30 family, friends, and neighbors attended to a vast array of all kinds of dishes and desserts, etc. Family attending were their son Jeremy and his girlfriend Audra Conckel, Maria’s mother Maria Beranek, Chuck’s mother Rosemary Kardos, his sister Rosemarie and her hubby Joe Nagy, her son Christopher Diaz and his girlfriend Angela and her daughter Alexa, Maria’s sister Celia and her husband Ron Vincent, their daughter Jennifer and her boyfriend Bobbie and his friend Kenny. All enjoyed a super great time. Maria’s other son James Griffin and his wife Shelley brought in the New Year in Washington, D.C.

Stephanie Parsolano is visiting her other grandmother Sandra Parsolano and other relatives in Islip, Long Island, New York. Having a very cold winter school break this year but a snowy good time.
