Vice and Narcotics Unit Continues to Combat Illegal Activity
Brooksville – In an ongoing effort to combat illegal narcotic activity throughout Hernando County, detectives from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit conducted proactive patrols in various areas of the county on 12-29-15.
During the proactive patrols, several detectives observed the driver of a white Cadillac commit a traffic infraction, at which time a traffic stop was conducted.
Upon contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Michael Meredith, detectives learned that Meredith had numerous suspensions and revocations on his driver’s license. Some of the revocations were for violation of F.S. 893 (controlled substance statute).
When Meredith exited the vehicle, a detective observed a black pistol on the driver’s side floor board in plain view. The pistol was recovered and determined to be fully loaded.
As a result of the traffic stop, Michael Meredith B/M DOB/11-11-90 was placed under arrest for the following charges:
– Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License
– Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.
Meredith remains in the Hernando County Detention Center.
Detectives are working to trace the origin of the firearm to determine if it is stolen.
Meredith was just released from prison in March of 2015
