Megan Huckaby,15, of Brooksville can’t bear to watch as volunteer Chad McGee places nose tongs in the nostrils of her Brangus Limousin steer. Huckaby and 40 other students will raise their young steer for the next 180 days when the animal will grow and gain more than 300-400 pounds as they prepare for the youth steer sale at the 63rd Hernando County Fair, April 5-April 13, 2014.

About 40 students gathered at the Hernando County Fairgrounds in Brooksville on Saturday to have their steers weighed in preparation for next year’s livestock auction during the annual Hernando County Fair.
