UPDATE – Detectives Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect Leaving Store

Update
A search warrant was executed at Lawson’s residence on 08-07-15. During the search warrant, detectives recovered 49 empty prescription bottles in a shed on the property. The bottles, from multiple pharmaceutical manufacturers, were confirmed to have been stolen from the CVS (12990 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville) in a 2014 robbery. The specific bottles are coded with a National Drug Code (NDC) and are not sold to the public.
On 08-17-15, Detective Brent Stentz responded to the Hernando County Detention Center and placed David Lawson under arrest for the Armed Robbery on 09-03-2014 of the CVS pharmacy located at 12990 Cortez Boulevard in Spring Hill.
The bond for the new charge of Robbery w/a Weapon (offense date 09-03-2014) is $50,000. The original charges of Robbery w/a Weapon and Trafficking in Oxycodone over 28 Grams (offense date 08-07-15) carry a bond of $50,000 each. Lawson’s total bond is now $150,000.
Original Information
On 08-07-15 just before 3 p.m., a white male entered the CVS pharmacy located at 9204 Cortez Boulevard in Spring Hill and proceeded to commit an armed robbery.
Acting on a tip, detectives were already conducting surveillance in this area.
Detectives acted swiftly and took the suspect into custody as he exited the back door of the store.
The suspect is identified as David Lawson W/M DOB/06-09-1979.
Detectives are investigating this individual for a previous robbery similar to this one.
The case remains under investigation. Additional information will be released when available.
