Three arrested following alleged home invasion, drug theft
BROOKSVILLE –
Three people were arrested following a home invasion and theft of 90 prescription drug pills, deputies said.
Randy Allen Daignault, 17, of 7715 Gordon Loop in Brooksville, burst through the front screen door of the victim’s home shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 9, and pointed a firearm at him, according to an arrest report.
He demanded the victim empty his pockets, but he refused, deputies said.
Daignault struck the victim on the head with his firearm and a struggle ensued, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, who was not named, escaped by crawling out the door to the front yard, deputies said.
The victim’s address was not provided.
The suspect took 90 oxycodone pills from the victim and fled on foot, according to the report.
Daignault attempted to conceal his identity during the robbery by wearing a blue bandana over his face, deputies said.
Two others were arrested in connection with the home invasion – Magen E. Churchill, 19, and Anthony W. Bennett Jr., 23, both of Brooksville.
Deputies said Bennett and Daignault devised the plan to rob the victim of his medication and Bennett had possession of the pill bottle after the robbery occurred.
Churchill admitted to knowing Daignault had entered the house to rob the victim even though she had provided deputies with a sworn statement she had no knowledge of the offense, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bennett also had provided authorities with a sworn statement, deputies said.
Daignault, who was less than three weeks away from his 18th birthday, was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Ocala, according to the report.
