3 miles of smiles
Stroll the historic Brooksville streets in search of treasures at the Three-Mile Market and Yard Sale, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday throughout the City of Brooksville.
There will be three miles of browsing and shopping from yard sale vendors, along with a fresh market that features fresh produce and fruit, honey and specialty crafts.

Bad rides
Calling all car enthusiasts to Bad Company’s Car Show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hardee’s, 6292 Commercial Way, Spring Hill. There will be a bounce house for the kids, vendors on site, raffles and a mobile dynamometer. Admission is $10 per person or a $5 toy donation. All proceeds will go to All Children’s Hospital.

‘White Christmas’
Show Palace Entertainment’s production Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” a merry and bright experience for the entire family, continues through Wednesday at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson.
Performances are this evening, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday brunch, and Tuesday and Wednesday matinee. Individual ticket prices are $49.50 for the dinner and show or $38.45 for the show only. (Children under age 12 are $24.95 and $19.95, respectively.)

Celebration continues
The Friends of Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park’s “Celebration of Lights,” a synchronized light and sound show featuring Sebastian’s Winter Wonderland, continues through Tuesday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Garden of the Springs, 4150 S. Suncoast Blvd. (U.S. 19) in Homosassa. Enjoy a variety of entertainment along with refreshments at the Miss-L-Toe Café.

Former NPR jazz radio announcer Peter LaMattina presents “The Golden Age of Jazz,” a special series of music programs, every third Friday of the month at Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive.
This month LaMattina, whose knowledge of jazz is said to be encyclopedic, presents the program “Central Avenue Scene – The Other West Coast Jazz,” at today’s program from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..

German Club toasts ball drop
The German Club of Spring Hill hosts a New Year’s Eve Dance on Dec. 31 at the Hernando Shrine Hall, 13400 Montour St., Brooksville. Doors open at 6 p.m. with hors d’ouevres served 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. and dancing from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. with music by Manni Daum.

New Year’s bash at Show Palace

These girls love to shoot guns
Hernando Sportsman’s Club hosts a “Girls Night Out” from 5 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 2 at the club at 16121 Commercial Way, Brooksville. The ladies trap shooting group meets the first Thursday night of each month starting in January. Trap range fee is $5 for members and $8 for nonmembers for two games of trap.
If you don’t have your own 20-gauge shotgun, the club will provide one for you to use. Bring your own ear plugs, two boxes of 20-gauge ammunition and eye protection.

Audubon Society plans next field trip
Hernando Audubon Society’s next field trip will be at 8 a.m. on Jan. 10, featuring a guided tour to see some of the 248 species of birds found in the Lake Apopka North Shore Restoration Area in Lake and Orange counties. This is a 20,000-acre wetland managed by St. Johns River Water Management District. Participants will be walking short distances and driving.
