Anglers are invited

The Hogan Law Firm hosts the sixth annual Charitable Fishing Tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday at Bayport Park, 4140 Cortez Blvd., Bayport. Anglers can fish until 3 p.m., with measure and weigh in. A silent auction and awards banquets follows the tournament at the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, 4340 Calienta St. in Hernando Beach. The registration fee is $100 with proceeds to benefit HPH Hospice. Trap shooting tourney

The Hernando County Cattleman’s Association invites you to its sixth annual Cattleman’s Trap Shoot at 7150 Myers Road in Brooksville. Registration is at 8 a.m. and shooting begins at 9 a.m. Food concessions will be available, and raffles include a Remington 770 with scope and a 32-inch flat screen television. Entry fee is $25 per shooter; bring two full boxes of shells.

Brooksville Country Jam

The public is invited for a day of toe tappin’ and boot scootin’ at Brooksville’s first Downtown Country Jam, from noon to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hernando Park Bandshell, 205 E. Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. Performers include Justin Phillips (noon), Harold Jones Band (1:30 p.m.), Fast 4 Ward (3 p.m.), Jennifer Lee & Nevaek Peek (4:30 p.m.), Whiskey Rose—Skye Claire & Kristin Kuiper (6 p.m.), and the Soul Circus Cowboys (8 p.m.). Food and beer concessions will be available; bring lawn chairs and blankets (no pets or coolers).

Pidgeon Club ladies plan rummage sale

Gulf Coast Homing Pidgeon Club’s Ladies Auxiliary hosts their second annual Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the GHC clubhouse, 240 Spring Time St., Spring Hill. Biography Book discussion group

Hernando County Public Library’s History and Biography Book Discussion Group meets Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Main Library, 238 Howell Ave., Brooksville. Model plane club has Spring Big Bird Fly

Hernando Aero Modelers R/C Club’s fourth annual Spring Big Bird Fly takes place Saturday with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. at the HAM Flying Field, 16301 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Brooksville. The pilots-landing fee is $15 and includes a grilled burger or hot dog. The cost for spectators is $3 per carload. Join them for food, raffles, fellowship and their 1,200-foot grass runway.
