Teen had marijuana near school, day care, deputies say
SPRING HILL – A Brooksville teen was arrested Friday after a search of his backpack by a patrol deputy found two small bags of marijuana and a digital scale.
The teen, whose name is not being published due to his age, was stopped on foot at the intersection of Landover Boulevard and Alcan Street, which is within 1,000 feet of F.W. Springstead Theater and Bright Beginnings Preschool, deputies said.
Deputy Julio Tagliani recovered about $120 in cash, and about 2 grams of marijuana.
The teen was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school.
The 17-year-old was released to his parents per the Department of Juvenile Justice.
