Spring Hill man dies in car accident

SPRING HILL –
A 46-year-old man was killed Monday night after the car he was riding in overturned along Forest Oaks Boulevard, troopers said.

A 2004 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound along the road shortly before 9 p.m. and veered into the westbound lane and onto the north shoulder, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car rotated and its front wheel collided with the sidewalk. It overturned, struck a fire hydrant and then a tree, troopers said.

Gary S. Ziegler, of Spring Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Mikell Paul Begley, 32, of Brooksville, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

Troopers said Begley failed to negotiate a curve.

The investigation is still open.
