Spring Hill man arrested on drug trafficking charges
BROOKSVILLE – An early morning traffic stop led to the arrest of a Spring Hill man on multiple drug trafficking charges, according to the Brooksville Police Department.
Police stopped Jonathan Sessa, 20, of Ridgeline Lane, for an “equipment violation” on his Chevy Trailblazer near Cortez and Candlelight boulevards around 2:30 a.m., according to a press release.
A K-9 alerted his handler to the scent of narcotics, and a search found 15.5 grams of marijuana, 5.1 grams of Oxycodone, five Alprazolam pills, a digital scale and small plastic bags usually used to package up drugs, as well as a handgun.
When police searched Sessa, they found a large kitchen knife in his pocket and $200 cash.
Sessa is being held on $121,000 bond on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of controlled substance without a prescription, trafficking in Oxycodone, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a vehicle with the intent to traffic drugs and distributing drugs within 100 feet of a church.
Records show Sessa was booked on battery charges in October 2012, but avoided the misdemeanor charge in a pre-trial diversion program.
