Spring Hill man arrested on drug charges
SPRING HILL — A Spring Hill man is in jail after the sheriff’s office found 268 pounds of marijuana inside his home.
Detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office on Friday received information from the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC) regarding possible power diversion occurring at 12293 Deep Creek Drive in Spring Hill.
While assisting WREC officials, detectives responded to the home and detected a strong odor of marijuana. They secured the home and obtained a search warrant, resulting in the arrest of Daniel Marquez, 48, and the seizure of 268 pounds of harvested marijuana along with 19 marijuana plants.
Marquez was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in marijuana and other charges. He was transported to the Hernando County Jail and bond set at $72,000.
The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate.
