Sims named FACA All-Star

BROOKSVILLE –
Hernando senior center fielder Ashley Sims was been selected to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s 24th All-Star Softball Classic on Friday at 6 p.m., at Ocala-Forest High.

Sims, who will play for the West All-Stars, hit .450 with 39 runs scores and 15 runs batted in for the Lady Leopards, who reached the Class 5A, Region II final this season.

She’ll be joined by her head coach, Kevin Bittinger, serving in the same capacity for the West All-Stars. His staff will include his regular assistant Casey Ellis, and her brother, Central head coach Tyson Ellis.
