Scam Alert

The HCSO is in receipt of information pertaining to an on-going IRS scam.

– The caller (suspect) telephones the citizen, identifying him or herself as an employee of the IRS
– The suspect advises the citizen that he or she has been audited
– The suspect advises the caller that the situation can be easily rectified
– The suspect then attempts to have the citizen provide a pre-paid cash card to the suspect (all done by phone).
This is a scam. Please terminate any calls of this nature.
