Purse snatcher sentenced to 66 months
BROOKSVILLE – Eloy Feliciano, who admitted to stealing a woman’s purse to fuel his drug addiction, was sentenced to 66 months in prison Friday.
The 27-year-old Spring Hill man pleaded no contest to the robbery charge.
Feliciano and his co-defendant, Alex Gonzalez, were arrested in July for their alleged connection in a June 13 purse snatching in the Publix parking lot at 4158 Mariner Blvd. in Spring Hill.
The victim, a 78-year-old woman, was knocked to the ground, and needed three staples to close a cut in her knee. She also had an abrasion on her lip and bruising on her arm.
Feliciano was seen on video surveillance trying to withdraw money from Publix and SunTrust ATMs. Feliciano admitted he and Gonzalez were driving around looking for someone to steal from and grabbed the purse from the woman.
Feliciano must repay about $900 to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office for investigation costs.
The 66-month sentence will run concurrent to a three-year sentence Feliciano received in July for a burglary charge.
Hernando Today previously reported Feliciano was living on Cadbury Road in Spring Hill when he burgled a neighbor’s house multiple times in June, taking items, including fishing rods and a pressure washer, to fuel his Dilaudid addiction.
Feliciano was originally charged with four counts of burglary and two counts of grand theft and criminal mischief, but prosecutors pursued a single burglary charge.
Feliciano was also adjudicated guilty on grand theft charges July 9.
