Owner of Flooring Company Arrested for Aggravated Grand Theft
On 05-24-16, we reported (via media release) that our Economic Crimes Unit was conducting an investigation into reported activities being conducted by a “local flooring company.”
At that time, our detectives had received preliminary information regarding representatives from the “local flooring company” engaging in several contracts to install flooring, along with other contractor services. On numerous occasions, the jobs had reportedly been abandoned, without the work being completed.
At the time of the media release, we did not name the “local flooring company” as detectives had not completed their investigation.
As a result of the media release, numerous victims came forward to report to detectives that they had been victimized by Mr. George Carr, owner of Georgie’s Flooring.
The investigation continued and a warrant was constructed, approved, and served for Carr’s arrest.
Carr was taken into custody at his home in Spring Hill on 06-15-16 just before 6 p.m.
George Carr W/M DOB/07-21-1965 was charged with one count of Aggravated Grand Theft. This charge includes 29 of the 48 cases that detectives are currently investigating involving Carr.
Of the 29 cases that Carr has been charged with at this time, monetary losses to customers exceeds $186,000.
Carr is being held on $186,000 bond.
Additional charges may be forthcoming.
