Old Navy closes in Coastal Landing, Ulta to fill spot
BROOKSVILLE — Exit Old Navy, enter Ulta.
The clothing and accessories retailer closed its Brooksville store for good last week. And a company official said there are no plans to re-open anywhere else in Hernando County.
The Old Navy was one of the main anchors at the Coastal Landing shopping center at the corner of State Road 50 and Mariner Boulevard.

It opened in 2007, along with several other tenants during the second phase of that plaza’s debut.
Kristen Moore, spokeswoman for Brixmor Property Group in New York, which manages the plaza, confirmed that the cosmetics/beauty chain Ulta will take over the Old Navy spot and occupy all 14,800 square feet.
“They hope to be open by the end of the year,” she said.
Ulta recently opened a site in the Gulf View Square Mall in Port Richey, off U.S. 19. Lovers of Old Navy will have to travel to Wesley Chapel for the closest store.
Carl Moore, visiting the shopping center Monday with his wife, said he didn’t frequent Old Navy and doesn’t expect to visit Ulta.
However, he is glad to see that the center will not have a gaping empty spot that would become an eyesore.
“You don’t like to see empty buildings sit around,” he said. “It’s a sign of decline.”
Moore expects his wife will visit the new Ulta when it opens.
“It’s a woman thing,” he joked.
