No charges in stabbing case
SPRING HILL –
The State Attorney’s Office will not seek charges against a Spring Hill man who stabbed another man that entered his home earlier this month at 4105 Dristol Ave., according to Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Carl DeRoberts, 27, told police he stabbed Douglas Tramill, 33, after the two became involved in an altercation inside DeRoberts’ residence. Tramill, who is listed as a professional pressure washer and computer repairman, received a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body.
“Both sides in this investigation signed waivers of prosecution and the (State Attorney’s Office) advised that they would not be seeking charges against the homeowner who stabbed the man that entered his home,” said Sgt. Philip Lakin. “They fought over drug issues. Had there been no waivers in place, the man who was stabbed may well have been determined to be the primary aggressor.”
After being stabbed, Tramill left the residence in a vehicle and called authorities from a parking lot at Springstead High School. He was transported to a local trauma center for treatment, and at press time Tramill was still hospitalized at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center.
“I am very thankful for the people that helped me out in the parking lot, and I’m very, very grateful for the people that helped me out at Bayonet Point hospital,” Tramill said.
