Man Sentenced to 29 Years for Armed Robberies
On various dates and times between 12-02-2013 and 04-15-2014, a series of Armed Robberies and Attempted Armed Robberies occurred in Hernando County. The suspects targeted the Dollar General Store, Cumberland Farms, Domino’s, and the Mobil Mart.
During the investigation, it was learned Armed Burglaries were also occurring in several nearby counties, and the M.O. was similar to the robberies that were occurring in Hernando County.
A task force was created with the assistance of the ATF, the FBI, and law enforcement officers from the various counties that had experienced robberies or burglaries.
Through investigation, the task force identified two suspects. The suspects were identified as England Alexander Wilson B/M DOB/12-21-1981 and Shamorcus Brandon Nesbitt B/M DOB/10-12-1986. Additionally, it was determined that the suspects were responsible for a total of 19 Armed Robberies. Hernando County had a total of eight Robberies, Tampa had five Armed Robberies, Hillsborough County had four Armed Robberies, Pasco County had one Armed Robbery, and Citrus County had one Armed Robbery.
While under surveillance on 05-20-14, the suspects committed an Armed Robbery in Tampa. It was at this time that they were arrested.
On 05-23-15, while in custody, England Wilson committed suicide by hanging.
On 07-14-15, U.S. District Court Judge Susan C. Bucklew sentenced Shamorcus Brandon Nesbitt to 29 years in federal prison for Conspiracy to Interfere with Commerce by Robbery, Interference with Commerce by Robbery, Carrying a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence, and Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. Nesbitt was found guilty by a federal jury on 02-12-2015.
