Ill. man dies in rollover accident on I-75
A 67-year-old Lombard, Ill., man was killed Thursday afternoon when the driver of the recreational vehicle he was riding in flipped the vehicle on I-75 in Hernando County, causing him to be thrown from the RV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened shortly after noon as Patricia Stratton, 66, was driving north on I-75 with her husband, Robert Stratton.
According to the report, Patricia Stratton was driving a RV that was towing a car when she lost control heading into a slight curve in the roadway.
The vehicle traveled into the outside emergency lane of I-75 where she then overcorrected and traveled across the roadway into the inside lane before overcorrecting again and traveling back across the roadway where she struck the guardrail, causing the RV to overturn, according to the report.
Robert Stratton was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Patricia Stratton was transported to Brooksville Regional Hospital where she was listed in serious condition. Neither of the Strattons was wearing a seat belt, the report said.
