HPH Hospice dedicates Veterans Memorial Walkway
HPH Hospice has always made a significant effort to honor veterans. On Thursday, they proudly dedicated the Veterans Memorial Walkway that welcomes veterans and their families at the entrance to Sturgill Hospice Care Center.
The project, which took about three months to complete, was a combined effort from several community resources to memorialize the selfless dedication of the United States’ armed forces.
The American flag flapped gently atop a flagpole in front of a paved walk, in the cooler mid-November temperatures as the crowd of several dozen gathered to honor the walkway.
Tom Barb, HPH Hospice President and CEO, thanked those who were responsible for bringing the project to its impressive completion. He then introduced VFW Commander, District 21, Isaac King who performed the dedication.
“Our veterans comprise less than 1 percent of our nation,” he said, “and commit to what the other 99 percent do not. We cannot repay them for their sacrifices. But with organizations like HPH Hospice and this simple but eloquent veterans walk, we can show that we care and wish to remember their sacrifices.”
A ceremonial flag raising presentation by the VFW District 21 Color Guard was followed by a blessing of the walkway by Kent Patterson, HPH Hospice Manager of Spiritual Care.
Lowe’s Home Improvement Store of Brooksville crafted the walkway landscaping as part of their Heros Project and recreated the courtyard.
Others that contributed include VFW District #21, Flagstone Pavers, IDS Pavers Installation Inc., Tree Care by Robert Miller, City Electric Supply, McLeod Electric of Brooksville Inc., U.S. Lawns, Florida Association for Insuranxe Reform/Thunder Bay Builders, Art Parsons, and more.
