Home invasion robbery in Spring Hill

SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed home invasion around 2:30 p.m. Thursday at 5012 Bromley Avenue in Spring Hill.

No injuries were reported. Law enforcement has arrested two suspects.

Two suspects were arrested on charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm later that night.

Both Robert Gerald Stack, 28, of Genter Drive in Spring Hill, and Jeffrey Brehony, 26, of Commercial Way in Hudson, are being held on $75,000 bond.

Details released Friday morning by the sheriff’s office show Stack asked Brehony to give him a ride to pick up some pills. The pair drove to Stack’s sister’s house to get a pair of cleaning gloves, then to Bromley Avenue.

Stack entered the residence wearing a hooded sweatshirt, the gloves, a ski mask and goggles, pointed a gun at the victim and told her to hand over a bottle of pills, according to the sheriff’s office.

With the pills in hand, Stack got back into Brehony’s pickup and they fled the scene to Stack’s house. Brehony said Stack gave him $15 for gas money and five pills, and went back to work.

Stack was arrested about 17 minutes later, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies caught up with Brehony at his Pasco County home later in the evening, and took him to the sheriff’s office for questioning.

A search of Stack’s house found the robbery clothes and a BB gun in the attic, and the pills and drug paraphernalia in the suspect’s bedroom.

Stack admitted to the robbery, and said he gave Brehony 20 pills for driving him. Brehony maintained he didn’t know about the robbery until Stack fled the home.

Public Information Office Denise Moloney said on Thursday that no injuries were reported.

Moloney could not comment if the suspects knew the victims in the residence. According property records the home is owned by Stephen Maxfield, who purchased it in 2001. [email protected]
