BROOKSVILLE –
Hernando High Head Coach John Palmer announced Tuesday that the Leopards’ senior running back/defensive back Alvin “Chubs” Delaine III has been selected to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches’ Association (FACA) North/South All-Star Football game set for Dec. 22 in Sebring.
According to Palmer, who is less than a month away from his induction into the FACA Hall of Fame in Daytona Beach, this year’s North squad will be guided by former Central High skipper John Wilkinson.
Wilkinson, who was a .500 mentor in Hernando County, relocated to Cocoa High. Since his arrival, the Tigers have captured a pair of state titles under his direction and will go third ring in the Class 2A title game on Friday night.
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Delaine is Hernando County’s reigning Player of the Year. Delaine rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored a county-high 24 touchdowns leading the Purple and Gold to nine wins for the first time since 1997.
