Hernando Today unveils government salary database
The administrative heads of the county’s parks and recreation departments, Pat Fagan and Harry Johnson, make a combined $145,388 a year, not including benefits.
Fagan also makes $33,452 as a county school board member.
Who says education doesn’t pay? There are 222 educators in Hernando County who make between $56,000 and $75,000 a year.
While most are administrative positions, such as assistant principals and supervisors, more than three dozen are teachers.
Between the three of them, the trio of chiefs at the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office – Royce Decker, Michael Maurer and William Kickliter – make $290,000.
Hernando’s five county commissioners get a state-set salary of $61,506 a year.
Brooksville City Manager Jennene Norman-Vacha makes $89,336 annually.
All the above salaries do not include health and other benefits.
Hernando Today is unveiling a new database with 285,000 names comparing thousands of education, law enforcement and government jobs in the county and state.

Users can break out the numbers according to gender, income, race, employer and hire dates. All statistics are current as of May 2010. The database will be updated every six months.
