Hernando sheriff’s office arrests Crime Stoppers Most Wanted

SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bobby Hunt on Tuesday. The 29-year-old, who was arrested on charges of grand theft, witness tampering and domestic battery had been listed as Crime Stoppers Most Wanted.

The sheriff’s office received a tip that Hunt and his girlfriend, Amanda Cowell, were staying at Motel 6 at 6172 Commercial Way.

When the Selective Enforcement Unit arrived on scene, they learned a man believed to be Hunt was seen running into the nearby woods about 20 minutes before law enforcement arrived.

K-9 Deputy Jeff Andrews and K-9 Valor tracked Hunt into the woods. He was eventually “flushed out,” according to the sheriff’s office, and taken into custody, deputies said.

Hunt provided a room number in the motel where Cowell was located and apprehended, deputies said.

Hunt was being held on $4,500 bail.

Cowell, 33, was arrested on charges of grand theft, battery and obstructing justice, and was also being held on $4,500 bail.

They are set to be arraigned on April 1.

Court records show Hunt has been convicted of multiple felonies in the past in Hernando County, including burglary, grand theft, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, trespass, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
