Hang 10 Hernando: Chamber ‘Beach Bash’ set for Friday
HERNANDO BEACH – When you think of the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce, you probably think business networking, ribbon cuttings, leadership workshops and seminars to help local merchants grow and prosper.
But getting down to business isn’t all the chamber is about. On Friday, members will dress in beachwear and hula skirts to celebrate the 2013 Beach Bash, an event that helps fund the chamber’s functions throughout the year.
Event Chairman Chris Scavuzzo said the Beach Bash is one of the organization’s main fundraising events to keep things running smoothly for the year. And it is highly anticipated, bringing in as many as 500 attendees.
Dubbed Hang 10 Hernando, the Bash will provide a full evening of activities, including live entertainment, games, food and drinks in an adult environment designed for fun. Held at the Hernando Beach Club, located at 3145 Flamingo Blvd. in Hernando Beach, from 5 to 11 p.m., Hang 10 Hernando promises to be the “biggest party of the year.”
The club will be decorated to reflect the Florida lifestyle, with surfboards, buoys and chamber members dressed as life guards. Attendees are encouraged to dress the part in causal beach attire, casual business or costumes.
Live entertainment is planned for the entire evening, beginning with DJ Beach Bum from 5:30 to 11 p.m. John Leggio’s Dance Group will perform at 6:30 p.m. and Shazadi, a group of hula and belly dancers, will entertain the crowd beginning at 8 p.m. A live band, Down 2-2 will perform from 9 to 11 p.m.
Food will be provided by Oak Hill Hospital and prepared by John Sellers of Chef Images. Dessert is provided by Judi’s Creations & Travel. There will also be a cash bar.
Games and other activities are also planned, including a dunk tank (Belly Flop Drop), a Tug of War Competition, 50/50 Raffle.
The Dunk Tank will “dunk” several dignitaries including Ralph Vitola, Tim Reed, Shirley Anderson, Dana Cutlip, Sarah Duncan, Teri Nichols, Malcolm Curry and Randy Woodruff.
The event’s Longboard Sponsors include A New Dawn, Brown & Brown Insurance, Oak Hill Hospital, Tracers Information Specialists and Hernando Today.
Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased online at www.hernando chamber.com or at the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce, located at 15588 Aviation Loop Drive in Brooksville. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
This is Scavuzzo’s second year coordinating the event.
“I like working with the chamber and getting everyone together to have a really great time,” he said.
