Celebrate Halloween in the Woods
PORT RICHEY The fifth annual Halloween in the Woods will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29-30 at Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park, located behind the Gulfview Mall. The park entrance is located at the end of Cinema Drive along Scenic Drive. Turn west off U.S. 19 onto Cinema Drive, the entrance is approx 2/10ths of a mile. Admission is $2 for adults over 18, $1 for kids 6-18 $1 and kids under 6 are free. Admission includes Kiddie Trail, Haunted Trail (geared to brave adults) and a treat for the children
Small additional fees can get you: Games cost a coin (five coins for a $1), hay rides, both tractor and horse-drawn are $2 for those 13 and over, 12 and under are free, petting zoo and pony rides ($3 for petting zoo or pony ride – both for $5]. There will be inflatables, cost is $2. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
All proceeds support the Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park, Pasco County’s last large tract of coastal wilderness.

PINE ISLAND The Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department will hold a costume contest during Bark Island Pine Island Beach, 10840 Pine Island Drive from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Everyone is invited for a special costume and photo day along with a morning of fun and romping!

Wild n’ Wicked Nights at Weeki Wachee Springs
WEEKI WACHEE Weeki Wachee Springs State Park will hold its annual Halloween festival, Wild n’ Wicked Nights from 7 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday Oct. 29-30. Adult admission is $13 and children ages 6 to12 are $8. Children 5 and under are free.
This year’s festivities will include a haunted boat ride, kid’s maze, haunted forest, a stage show by John Leggio’s Center for the Performing Arts, crazy carnival, scream and costume contest and much more. The event would not be complete without an underwater spooktacular show by the world famous Weeki Wachee Springs Mermaids “The Adventures of Alice in Waterland.”

You never know what you’ll find in the maze

Haunted Trail on Golddust Road
SPRING HILL The sixth annual Haunted Trail on Golddust will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29-30, at the trail located at 5277 Golddust Road. A donation of $5 per person is requested, and proceeds will benefit a local charity. To reach the trail from Spring Hill Drive, drive north on Barclay Avenue, turn left onto Highgrove Road, and then left onto Golddust Road. From State Road 50, drive south on Barclay Avenue, turn right onto Highgrove Road, and then left onto Golddust Road. Since the trail is wooded, appropriate footwear should be worn.

‘Hollywood Lock-in’ at Christian Church

‘Horror High’ event at Springstead High
SPRING HILL Springstead High School Marketing Academy will conduct a curriculum project for Halloween entitled “Horror High ’10: Maze of Terror” to be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 30, at the school located at 3300 Mariner Blvd.
The high school itself will be transformed for the one night into 13 different scare zones with over 200 students participating in a massive haunted house walk-through event. The cost will be $7 per person for adults and $5 per person for students.

Fil-Am Club to hold ‘Fright Night’
NEW PORT RICHEY Filipino American Social Club of Hernando and Pasco will sponsor a Halloween Fright Night “Spooktacular” from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Elks Lodge 2284 banquet hall located at 7201 Congress St.
Since the event is a potluck dinner-dance, guests are requested to bring a special dish to be shared.
Ticket cost is $10 per person for members and $12 per person for non-members, and children 13 and under are free of charge. A variety of music is planned, such as Pop, Ballroom, ’70s and ’80s’ R&B, and requests.
Wear Halloween costumes and compete for “Best Costume” prizes, with separate prizes for adults and children. Members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Amnesia to hold Halloween Grand Opening

SPRING HILL Hope Community Bible Church will host a “Trunk or Treat” event from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, in the parking lot of the church located at 13241 Spring Hill Drive. The event is a safe Halloween alternative to trick-or-treating.
Car trunks will be decorated for Halloween, and kids will be able to get candy from trunk to trunk while being entertained by the decorations and other costumes. The community is welcome to attend.

HUDSON Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 will hold “The Night of the Living Dead” costume party at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Lodge located at 9135 Denton Ave. Dress up like a dead celebrity such as Elvis, Freddie Kruger or Cleopatra; prizes will be featured.
