Greek festival hosts first toga fun run
The skies cleared long enough Saturday morning for runners in togas to complete a 1-mile course around the Hernando County Fairgrounds.

The fun run was a first for Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church’s Greek Festival, now in its fourth year.
Runners chanted “toga!” at the start of the run and as they finished.
Event coordinator Emily Thomas said rain kept a lot of people home this year, but was quick to add a festival-related dance on Friday night kept a lot of people up late.
“We had a great time,” Thomas said.
The festival offered plenty of Greek delicacies and other specialty products, as well as cultural performances.
Proceeds will benefit the church’s philanthropic work, along with Brooksville New Beginnings Youth Shelter and Brooksville Rotary.
