Four Teens, In Two Separate Cases, Arrested in Recent Rash of Vehicle Burglaries
Four teens involved in two separate investigations have been arrested in recent days in connection with a wave of vehicle burglaries stretching from Spring Hill to Brooksville.
The latest arrests occurred on 10-13-15 as deputies with the Selective Enforcement Unit, detectives and proactive units in District 2 were on patrol and received a call from dispatch about a suspicious person spotted on Chase Street, near Kirkland Avenue in Spring Hill.
When deputies arrived two suspects fled the area. Following a short foot chase a deputy was able to apprehend Aadil Bouarfa, W/M DOB 6/5/1997.
Other deputies on scene quickly setup a perimeter in an effort to box in the remaining at large suspect.
A short time later deputies arrested the second suspect, Justin Caudill, W/M DOB 3/17/1998.
Upon apprehension both suspects were in possession of black latex gloves. They also had a black backpack with money and a stolen laptop. After canvassing the area it was discovered the two teens had just attempted four vehicle burglaries, committed two vehicle burglaries and one occupied residential burglary prior to their apprehension.
During questioning Bouarfa and Caudill confessed to the burglaries mentioned above in addition to at least 20 more. On the night the pair was apprehended a total of 14 burglary reports were taken to include 13 counts of vehicle burglary and 2 counts of occupied residential burglaries. Both teens were charged in connection with the 14 burglary reports.
The teens also admitted to committing several other vehicle burglaries in the area of Mariner Boulevard and Linden Drive. A total of 23 burglary cases were closed by detectives due to the arrests.
Bouarfa was charged with two counts of Occupied Residential Burglary, 21 counts of Vehicle Burglary, 6 counts of Attempted Vehicle Burglary, 1 count of Criminal Mischief and one count of Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Bouarfa was taken to the Hernando County Detention Facility on the felony charges where he’s being held in lieu of a $65,000 bond.
Caudill was also charged with two counts of Occupied Residential Burglary, 21 counts of Vehicle Burglary, 6 counts of Attempted Vehicle Burglary, 1 count of Criminal Mischief and one count of Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Caudill is being detained at the Department of Juvenile Justice facility in Ocala on the felony charges.
In a separate investigation, on 10-6-15, deputies responded to a home on Wake Robin Drive in the Trillium subdivision in reference to a parent who found a firearm in his stepson’s bedroom while putting away laundry.
The stepfather indicated the firearm did not belong to anyone living in the residence and proceeded to turn it over to detectives.
On 10-12-15, District 1 detectives interviewed Kevin Nibbs, W/M DOB/11/26/1998, who admitted to being present on 8-10-15 when Joseph Loredo, W/M DOB 5/2/1999, burglarized a vehicle on White Flower Way.
During that burglary Nibbs said Loredo took a firearm from the glovebox of the unsecured vehicle.
When the burglary was complete Nibbs said Loredo asked him to hold on to the firearm, which he did. Nibbs indicated that Loredo likely committed additional car burglaries in Trillium.
Of the 10 car burglaries reported between August and October of this year in Trillium, all of which were unlocked, Loredo eventually admitted to committing eight of them.
Nibbs was charged with one count of Felony Grand Theft, while Loredo faces seven counts of Unarmed Burglary and an additional count of Armed Burglary, both of which are felonies.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis said all the deputies and detectives involved in both cases deserve credit for all their hard work, which ultimately led to the apprehension of four burglary suspects.
“I have some really good people working for me and these deputies and detectives are no exception,” he said. “This goes to show the public that, while it might take us some time to get certain cases resolved, in the end we very often get justice for the victims.”
