Former Eastside principal to lead Endeavor Academy
BROOKSVILLE – Hernando County School Board voted 3-2 at a board meeting Tuesday to transfer former Eastside Elementary principal Tim Urban to Endeavor Academy.
Urban was replaced in July by former-Brooksville Elementary principal Mary LeDoux after Eastside Elementary became the first school in the district to earn an F grade from the state.
Urban has been on special assignment at the district office since that time, according to the agenda.
The school where Urban is now principal, Endeavor Academy, focuses on students who are at-risk of attendance, academic and behavioral issues.
School Board member Cynthia Moore voiced concern about transferring Urban to the school.
“In my opinion, I don’t think he is capable of doing it,” Moore said. “I just don’t think he can do the job. The school where he was principal was going along wonderfully and doing great.”
“I just don’t want to see the school where he’s going to move to come down with his lack of ability,” she added.
While not a job requirement, Moore said when Urban was made principal of Eastside, he was told he had a year to complete his portfolio, but did not do so.
“Assistant principals are all told they have to do their portfolios before they can get moved up to principals,” she said.
School Board member John Sweeney did clarify prior to the vote that Urban’s portfolio is now complete.
