Detective: Realtor death a suicide

SPRING HILL –
The last of the forensics and drug testing is complete.

Jacqueline Studer, a local Realtor, killed herself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

The case took 11 months to solve as detectives investigated everything about the 65-year-old, including whether her husband, Robert Julig, was responsible.

He was never charged in connection with Studer’s death.

“It appears that Jacqueline may have retrieved her firearm moments before shooting herself,” wrote Detective Bryan Faulkingham. “Based on the amount of clutter between the wall and bed, and the fact that her feet were almost touching the night stand when she fell to the ground, it does not seem possible that anyone else could have been standing close to Jacqueline when she was shot.”

The medical examiner concluded the 65-year-old Studer had clonazepam, a medication designed to relieve panic attacks and seizures, Prozac and Benadryl in her system when she died. The dosages weren’t enough to incapacitate Studer, said Faulkingham.

The evidence at the scene was consistent with the number of suicides Faulkingham has investigated during his years as a detective, he stated in his final report.

Studer’s son was notified of the conclusion of the case, according to the sheriff’s office.

Paramedics responded the afternoon of June 1, 2011 to Studer’s home at 2013 Finland Drive. Julig was the one who called 911, deputies said.

Relatives who were interviewed days after her death said she was a battered wife. The once vibrant gym teacher got into the real estate business late in life. Her career soured as her personal life continued to spiral downward, they said.
