Deputies: Hernando man arrested in Port Richey stabbing death
PORT RICHEY — A 30-year-old Spring Hill man faces a manslaughter charge after an early Saturday morning scuffle outside a strip club left another man dead of a stab wound, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.
Felipe Castrillo-Oyola, of 1460 Brigadier Drive, Spring Hill, is accused of stabbing Pheodis Simmons, 39, after the men argued outside the Brass Flamingo, 9034 U.S. 19.
Witnesses said that Castrillo-Oyola and Simmons stared at each other inside the club, then began arguing outside, a sheriff’s report said.
After Castrillo-Oyola struck Simmons in the left shoulder, Simmons punched back; the men went to the ground, but were separated by a witness, the report said.
In the scuffle, Simmons suffered a stab wound to the upper left chest area and later died at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, the report said.
Castrillo-Oyola left the scene in a car with a witness, but they were pulled over just north of the club, the report said. A deputy found three knives in the vehicle, including one with a bloody blade where Castrillo-Oyola was sitting, the report said.
Surveillance cameras at the business captured images of the fatal fight, the report said.
Castrillo-Oyola was booked into the Land O’ Lakes Jail around noon Saturday; he was released just before 11 p.m. after posting $10,000 bail, jail records show.
