Cup-cakery goes pink for October
Since October is breast cancer awareness month, Babycakes Cup-Cakery in Spring Hill is thinking “Go Pink.”
Throughout October, the bakery is showcasing specialty items in honor of breast cancer awareness, including “pink ribbon” sugar cookies dipped on pink royal icing, a giant “Hope” pink cupcake, and two specially designed flavored cupcakes, the “Classy Lady’s Pink Champagne” and “Strawberry F.L.A.G.” (Fight Like a Girl) cupcakes.
The “Classy Lady’s Pink Champagne” cupcake is a moist pink champagne cake with a strawberry crème filling, with a pink champagne butter crème frosting and sprinkled pink candy pearls.
The “Strawberry F.L.A.G. (Fight Like a Girl)” cupcake is strawberry flavored, with a strawberry cream filling and topped with a strawberry Swiss butter crème frosting.
The Cup-Cakery will donate 15 percent of net sales of all their specially designed “pink” bakery items during the month of October to Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation.
“Babycakes Cup-Cakery is partnering with Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation to support those fighting their battle with cancer,” said Tina Grogan, co-owner of Babycakes Cup-Cakery.
According to the foundation’s website, The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation is a nonprofit organization that “helps cancer patients in need with their living expenses while undergoing treatment.
“It enables those fighting cancer to concentrate on recovery rather than their overdue rent, mortgage, electric, or water bill.”
In addition, the Cup-Cakery will host a “Decorate a Cancer Pink Ribbon Cupcake” event Oct. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., where you can decorate your own pink ribbon cupcake. The cost is $2 per cupcake.
