County attorney’s contract to be discussed Tuesday
BROOKSVILLE — County commissioners Tuesday will discuss what, if any, adjustments will be made to county attorney Garth Coller’s contract.
This comes on the heels of a pay and classification study that recommended salary increases for some of the employees who work under the board of county commissioners.
Because Coller is under contract with the board, commissioners last week directed staff to come up with a recommendation as to how the pay study applies to his position.
Coller’s employment agreement states that, at the discretion of commissioners, adjustments above any across-the-board increase to all employees “may be approved either as an increase in base salary or alternatively as a lump sum performance bonus.”
Commissioners recently approved pay increases to 56 out of 95 non-union employees whose former salaries were deemed too low by a consultant’s study that looked at industry public sector peers. The salary adjustments totaled $321,277, with the lowest adjustment $15.18 annually and the highest at $17,842.
Coller, who currently makes about $122,866 annually, was hired in March 2000.
Also at Tuesday’s county commission meeting, the board will recognize County Commissioner Dave Russell for his years of service. Russell chose not to run for re-election to the District 4 seat.
Russell has spent 16 years in public service: eight on the county commission and eight in the state Legislature.
The county commission meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N. Main St. in downtown Brooksville.
