Commissioners to consider incentives
BROOKSVILLE — County commissioners on Tuesday will consider offering incentives to two manufacturers that plan to bring jobs to Hernando County.
Clear Power Systems makes waste heat generator and recovery systems distributed worldwide. The company wants to lease and improve an existing 11,800-square-foot facility at the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport & Technology Center.
Clear Power would invest about $285,000 in renovations and equipment. It plans to hire 15 full-time employees by the end of 2015 at an average annual wage of at least $34,911.
Under the Hernando County incentive ordinance, the company would receive a maximum $45,000 paid over five years. All incentives are performance-based and paid upon documentation of employees and wages.
Also Tuesday, the board will discuss incentives allowing Micro Matic USA to build a new facility.
Micro Matic manufactures industrial beverage dispensing equipment at its U.S. headquarters at the airport.
The company has contracted with CB Group to design and build a 73,000-square-foot facility at the airport technology center. Micro Matic now employs 135 full-time workers and intends to add 15 more employees with an average wage of $34,911.
CB Group, via Micro Matic, is eligible for and is seeking a Hernando County building permit and impact fee mitigation incentive. The estimated costs are $42,800. Fees are mitigated over a seven-year period and require annual employment and wage documentation to the Office of Business Development.
County Administrator Len Sossamon also plans to give the commission an economic development update on current activities, marketing and major initiatives.
The county commission meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 North Main St., in downtown Brooksville.
