Candidates report contributions

BROOKSVILLE – Republican Laurie Pizzo raised $23,000 in monetary contributions to date, far outpacing her two opponents for the District 4 county commission race.

Pizzo, 46, a Realtor with Keller Williams Tampa Properties, entered the race in July and only has one financial reporting period under her belt.

Republican Jeff Holcomb, also with one contribution cycle, took in $5,862 during the most recent period, which covers contributions and expenses from July 1 through Sept. 30.

Democrat Dan Oliver, with two reporting cycles, has amassed a cumulative total of $1,100 in contributions.

District 4 has received much attention because it’s a wide-open race. Incumbent Dave Russell said weeks ago he would not pursue another term and threw his support behind Pizzo.

“I am humbled and honored by the tremendous amount of broad-based support from our community,” Pizzo said in a press release. “I asked them for help and they responded affirmatively.”

Meanwhile, Republican incumbent Wayne Dukes has outpaced his nearest opponent in his re-election bid for the District 2 seat. He’s taken in $1,500 to date.

Democrat James “Jimmy” Lodato took in $660 and Libertarian party candidate Charles McBrearty garnered $200.

In other races:

Elizabeth Narverud took in $800 and leads the three-way pack for the nonpartisan District 3 school board race. Incumbent Cynthia Moore has $600 and Robert Neuhausen $100.

In the state race, Republican Blaise Ingoglia reported $24,930 in monetary contributions for the period. When added to his previous financial statement, Ingoglia has amassed $72,031 in his quest to be state representative from District 35.

Ingoglia currently has no opponents in that race.
