Brooksville man struck, killed by pickup while walking dog, troopers say

BROOKSVILLE — A man was killed Thursday morning when he was struck by a pickup while walking his dog, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ted L. Marquardt, 62, of Brooksville, was walking his dog on the south side of Pitcairn Street when the dog dragged him into the road where he was hit by a Ford F-150 pickup driven by Eric J. Hooper, also of Brooksville, a highway patrol report said.

Hooper did not see Marquardt because of sun glare, the report said. The incident occurred near Pitcairn and White Pine Avenue, the report said.
