Brooksville appoints new mayor, vice mayor for 2014
BROOKSVILLE – Brooksville City Council has selected Kevin Hohn to serve as mayor for 2014, and named Frankie Burnett vice mayor.
City council selects a new mayor and vice mayor every December. Council generally selects the vice mayor of the previous year to serve as the new mayor, but all appointments are based on nominations and votes from their peers.
Hohn, who joined the council in 2011, is the only member who has not previously served as mayor.
Taking the gavel from former Mayor Lara Bradburn, Hohn said she was “one of the hardest working people” he’s met in his life, and someone who loves Brooksville more than anyone.
After the meeting, Burnett said his appointment to vice mayor came as a total surprise.
