Bondi attends ICTC ribbon cutting
BROOKSVILLE – Hundreds of employees, local dignitaries and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi attended Interconnect Cable Technologies Corp. Global Manufacturing Solutions’ grand opening at its new building in the airport industrial park.
The company has just under 100 employees and bought the building at 16090 Flight Path Drive last year to accommodate its growth. The electronics manufacturing company expects to add 40 jobs in the next four years.
Bondi attended Friday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony in place of Gov. Rick Scott, who had planned to attend.
Bondi and Hernando County government officials toured the 44,300-square-foot facility and learned about three products the company makes. ICTC President and CEO Sareet Majumdar led the tour.
The attorney general expressed interest in school bus cameras manufactured for use in Dallas. The cameras monitor students and drivers on school buses, as well as vehicles that follow the buses, and offers a panic button and video streaming.
“When your child is going on a bus and this technology is available, they’re (parents) going to demand it,” Majumdar said.
“I think bus drivers would welcome it,” Bondi added.
During a speech, Bondi congratulated the company for “creating things that can truly change lives” and remarked how content the ICTC employees seemed to be.
“When I walked in, one of the first things I noticed … you were all smiling. And you are actually happy to work here. And that speaks volumes about you and your business,” she said. “It’s so nice to see happy people in the workplace.”
ICTC also invited Feeding Children Everywhere to the grand opening, and ICTC employees and other attendees helped assemble enough packages of lentil stew to feed 40,000 needy families in Hernando County.
Bondi herself donned a hairnet and gloves and jumped on the line.
“I don’t think we wanted to stop putting the rice in the bags, because it’s six meals, every bag, it’s unbelievable,” Bondi said.
