Bar fight lands man in jail

BROOKSVILLE A bar fight involving 25-30 people landed Andrew Hughes, 21, of 21389 Fletcher Road in Brooksville, in jail Sunday on a charge of battery.

A sheriff’s report said deputies went to the REBAR on Broad Street in Brooksville after reports of a large fight. When they arrived, one of the people said Hughes had struck him in the face with his fist and with a cast on his hand. The victim said this was a continuation of an incident that occurred last weekend at the REBAR.

Hughes was taken into custody, taken to the Hernando County Jail without incident. During the ride, Hughes said he would be up anyone he ended up with in a cell, the report said.

He was given a $500 bond and a court date of July 10.
