ACE Hardware coming to Mariner Boulevard
New retail stores will soon debut in Hernando County and a popular coffee and doughnut chain will be closing for at least a week for remodeling.
ACE Hardware is headed to 4132 Mariner Blvd. in Spring Hill, the building formerly occupied by Blockbuster Video.
Stephanni Morton, with the Echoes Real Estate Group in Tampa, said the property has been purchased and the building will be remodeled to accommodate the hardware store.
The only other ACE store in Hernando County is at 800 West Jefferson St. in Brooksville. There are more than 4,600 ACE hardware stores locally owned and operated in the nation and other countries.
In other business news:
? Brooksville staff expect to issue a certificate of occupancy soon allowing the new Sears Hometown Store to open in the long-vacated Publix grocery store at 19410 Cortez Blvd., in the Brooksville Square Plaza. A Jan. 23 opening is planned.
This will be a smaller version of the Sears stores and carry appliances, electronics, tools, lawn and garden equipment and mattresses.
The major brands, including Sears’ own Kenmore, will be sold in the store. Customers can order products online or in-store and arrange to have items delivered to their homes.
? The Dunkin Donuts-Baskins Robbins store at 13179 Cortez Blvd., at the Coastal Way Shopping Center, will close at 1 p.m. Sunday and is scheduled to reopen Jan. 26.
The restaurant will undergo remodeling.
? Sally’s Beauty Supply is interested in opening a store at 19542 Cortez Blvd. in Brooksville. The application is being reviewed by city officials.
? The Aaron’s rental store at 20108 Cortez Blvd. in Brooksville is doing some remodeling and city building officials are reviewing the permit.
? Renovation of the McDonald’s at 13100 Mariner Square, will continue for at least six weeks. The restaurant off State Road 50 and Mariner Boulevard is keeping the drive-through open to accommodate customers.
? The JCPenney department store at the Gulf View Square mall in Port Richey is one of 33 underperforming stores that will close, according to the company. The JCPenney in Spring Hill is not on the list of closings.
