Home Invasion – 14443 Middle Fairway Drive – Silverthorn
On 01-26-16 at approximately 4:33 p.m., the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls indicating two females had been injured at or near the address of 14443 Middle Fairway Drive. This address is in the gated subdivision of Silverthorn.
Upon arrival, deputies located one victim, Kathleen Perkins, W/F 55, at the residence with traumatic injuries.
Still receiving 9-1-1 calls from citizens, information was relayed to deputies that the suspect fled on foot from the residence and was being chased by the other victim.
Deputies quickly saturated the area.
The suspect was spotted moments later attempting to cross the Suncoast Parkway. He was quickly taken into custody by units in the area.
A short time later deputies located the second victim, Samantha Perkins, W/F 27, who was able to provide an initial account of the incident. Samantha Perkins advised detectives that the suspect who attacked her and her mother was her ex-boyfriend, Joseph Panarese W/M DOB/04-28-1962.
Panarese was arrested by detectives, charged as follows:
– Home Invasion Robbery with Weapon
– Aggravated Battery with Deadly Weapon (2 counts)
– Bond – $150,000.
After being placed in custody, Panarese complained of injury due to running from deputies. He was transported (by Hernando County Fire/Rescue) to Bayfront Health Brooksville for treatment.
He was later released and transported (by deputies) to the Hernando County Detention Center.
Physicians have advised that both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
