Brooksville woman killed walking along U.S. 19

A woman was killed when she was struck by a pickup while walking along U.S. 19 in Hernando County on Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

About 6:48 p.m., Sheryl Ann Hathaway, 60, of Brooksville, was walking west from the east shoulder of U.S. 19 at Beverly Court when she stepped in front of a 1998 Dodge Ram driven by Lester Fisher, 81, of New Port Richey, that was heading north, troopers said.

Hathaway was struck by the truck and died at the scene, troopers said. Fisher and his passenger, Louise Fisher, 81, of New Port Richey, were not hurt.

Charges are pending, according to the highway patrol.
