Woman charged with battering husband, three children in car
BROOKSVILLE – A Brooksville woman was arrested Friday after a deputy saw her strike her three children in the back seat of a car, and then her husband, who was driving, deputies said.
The deputy stopped the car and then removed Tara Lynn Triplett, 24, of Ester Drive, from the car near Sunshine Grove Road and Ken Austin Parkway, according to an arrest report.
“Tara stated she was striking everyone . because she wanted to visit her grandmother,” the deputy wrote. “Tara made it clear to me her striking the children was not for discipline it was out of anger for not getting her way.”
Triplett’s husband corroborated that statement when he spoke with the deputy, according to the arrest report.
He had a cut along the edge of his right ear that was bleeding down the side of his face, the report states.
There was minor redness to the upper side of one of the children, who said Triplett hit her and pulled her hair, and minor redness to the right side of another child, and what appeared to be minor bruising to the underside of the child’s left eye, the deputy wrote.
The third child had no observable injuries, according to the report.
Triplett was charged with one count of domestic battery and three counts of child abuse, and she was held at Hernando County Jail on $1,000 bond.
She is not allowed contact with any of the victims, according to jail records.
