HCSO: Man stole enhancement pills
SPRING HILL – A 24-year-old Spring Hill man was arrested Thursday and accused of stealing male enhancement pills and other items from a Wal-Mart store, Hernando County sheriff’s officials reported.
An arrest affidavit states Daniel Basso, of Pirate Lane, was seen on video surveillance taking the Extenze Male Enhancement pills and other items and concealing them in his pants.
An arrest report shows Basso at one point tied a shoelace around his pants to keep them from falling down.
Basso then walked out of the store at 13300 Cortez Blvd. without paying for the items, valued at $150, which also included a lanyard, mouth guards and a bearing protector, deputies said.
When approached by a loss prevention officer, authorities reported, Basso ran through the parking lot and a retention pond and dropped the pills.
According to deputies, Basso then left in a vehicle. A witness, Andrew Melton, later told law enforcement officials he dropped him off at the Wal-Mart and picked him up in the area of Landover and Mariner Boulevard after the theft and took him to a Motel 6 on U.S. 19.
Basso was identified by law enforcement officers and taken into custody at the motel. He was charged with retail theft and resisting a merchant. He was being held on $1,000 bail.
Court records show Basso has been convicted of felonies in the past.
