Celebrate the success of Hernando County’s graduating seniors
BROOKSVILLE – Starting late May until early June, Hernando County’s 1,406 high school seniors will begin their celebrations for having graduated from one of the county’s five high schools, and enter the career and collegiate world.
“The celebrations of our graduations represents an opportunity for the public to come and see our schools, and see us at our highest moments when we do grant students their high school diplomas, and also to recognize all of the achievements of these young people,” said School Superintendent Bryan Blavatt. “All community members: If you have the opportunity, go to a high school graduation, and I think you will be very, very encouraged by what you see.”
Recently, Blavatt and several Hernando County School Board members visited a Junior ROTC program at one of the district’s high schools. Blavatt said that, as a senior citizen, he was encouraged by the kinds of young people he saw, and whom the district is soon to graduate.
“Don’t for a moment think that this next generation isn’t going to be very effective, and are not going to do great things, and we’ve got to remember that,” Blavatt said. “We’ve got to not perseverate on some of the situations that reflect on the negativism of kids in our community. Those are the rare situations. The real, overwhelming situation are the children that go to school, get decent grades, and do very, very well, and that’s what we need to really be conscious of.”
“Let’s go celebrate the success of our students when we have the opportunity.”
