A turn lane is being placed at the entrance to the Pasco Mine, which is due to open this fall. The mine will be operational for four years, one of which will be for cleanup before the land is developed into a small residential sub-division.
Local business owners have said the turn lane will ease access to their premises from the busy County Line Road but are concerned about the expected increase in trucks once the sand mine is in full production.
Local residents say this expected increase in traffic will make it difficult to access County Line Road from Linden Drive and according to the Hernando County planning department, a warrant study is planned to determine the need for a traffic signal at that intersection.
Road construction for the turn lane will take three to four weeks, according to the Pasco County planning department.
