Weeki Wachee fireworks canceled

WEEKI WACHEE – The “Red White and Boom” patriotic fireworks display set for this evening has been canceled.

According to Pastor Adam Brant, Believers Christian Fellowship was unable to secure the necessary permits.

“We found out (Tuesday) around 5 p.m. that we did need a permit,” Brant said.

Brant said the church funded the planned display themselves and put on a smaller show in 2012 because of the lack of an event planned in Hernando County.

“Our intention was to have a family-oriented, free event to celebrate the Fourth of July,” Brant said. “We hope everyone has a happy and safe Fourth of July and that we’ll be able to do something in the future.”
