2014 Swampfest logo selected
WEEKI WACHEE – Swampfest volunteers have chosen the design that will be featured on the 21st annual festival’s T-shirts and promotional items.
Audrey Holley, who coordinates the design contest, reminded volunteers before voting last Thursday the design should be something they “really really would be proud to wear.”
Holley said 145 designs were submitted for consideration. This coming year’s theme is a great blue heron, and the winning design was awarded to Carlos Iglesias, a student at West Hernando Middle School. He was awarded $100 for the winning design.
Second place went to Deborah Nicholson, of Hernando Beach, who won $75, and Carol Szynwelski, of Spring Hill, came in third and won $50.
For the student design category, Jasmine McCoy, of West Hernando Middle School, came in first place, and Leah Jordan, also of West Hernando Middle School, came in second. Designs by Kaitlyn Price, of Powell Middle School, and Alex Joll, of Springstead High School, tied for third place.
