Man injured, two arrested in suspected golf club attack

SPRING HILL –
Two men were arrested Thursday on battery charges following allegations they beat up a man following a transaction involving a radio, drugs and money.

Joseph Vincent Giovinazzi, 21, of Weeki Wachee, and James Roger Cina Jr., 25, of Spring Hill, were seated shortly before 1 a.m. inside a parked vehicle outside the latter’s home along with the victim, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men got out of the car and ran into the garage of the house located at 11357 Outrigger Ave. with the victim’s money, deputies said.

The victim chased after them and when he ran into the garage, the suspects attacked him, according to an arrest report.

Cina struck the man in the head and body with a golf club while Giovinazzi punched him in the face and chest while he was on the ground, deputies said.

The arresting deputy wrote in his report the victim sustained lacerations near his left eye and a bruise on his left hip.
